BERNICE FICEK-SWENSON
A photo-based artist, Ficek-Swenson’s practice spans photography, printmaking, book arts and installation. Her projects find inspiration in the environment, nature writings and are sparked by the raw materials found at each site visited and researched.
Ficek-Swenson’s work is in photography, printmaking and rare book collections including the Museum of Contemporary Photography @ Columbia Chicago, Minneapolis Institute of Art, Frederic Weisman Art Museum, Scripps College, Claremont, California, Athens School of Fine Arts, the University of Vera Cruz -Xalapa, Mexico and the Walker Art Center, Minneapolis, MN. In 2017 and 2012 she received Minnesota State Arts Board Artist Initiative Grants and the 2012 CAS Excellence in Creative Activities at the University of Wisconsin – River Falls, where she is a Professor Emerita.
